This is me and my dad last Fathers Day on Maui. I could say lots of things about my dad, but because he has no social media presence whatsoever, I’ll say this to everyone else out there. If Father’s Day is painful for you, I get it and I’m so sorry. To be honest it’s been mostly a hard, if not a numb day for me and my siblings all our lives. Last year I had the first meaningful day with my dad on Father’s Day that I can recall. I took him out to a fancy buffet brunch and we listened to Uncle Willie K shred that guitar like no ones business. It was delightful. My dad isn’t a monster, far from it. I spent most of my life trying to fight the disappointment of not knowing him and enjoying a deeper connection with him. In my adult life I have decided to dig in as best that I can to know him, to spend time with him and share my life with him. What a journey it’s been. For those who don’t have that opportunity, I grieve with you. I hope that you find comfort today somehow and someway. I’m more than willing for you to reach out to me for prayer and connection. Dads matter. The world needs to know that more than ever.
I’ll never forget getting the phone call 10 years ago today. I had just arrived up in Darwin where I was booked to speak at a youth camp that week and received news that two of my friends had been swept into wild surf and only Jesse had been found/rescued so far. Jeremy was still missing and I would need to cancel speaking and get on the first flight back to newcastle to be with our YWAM Newcastle community. I was filled with dread and felt so helpless. The narrative of Jeremy’s life and passing is the epitome of inspiration. He was the most sincere, caring and unique friend I’ve ever had. He really made everyone feel special and celebrated for who they were. I miss you so much Jeremy. Thank for devoting your life to love and serve others, I hope you continue to rub off on me for many more years to come!

I pray that you dig deep, much deeper than purely nationalistic goals and purposes, but fully into Jesus' radical heart of inclusion for our friends in North Korea. @labld__ has become my local, and boy am I grateful for such a gem. My housemate and partner in crime @joshuamikhaiel got the boys to chuck on @fringesmusic on the speakers as I came in today! Cheeky boys.
It’s become more of a rarity as of late but sometimes, I actually play live tunes, in front of actual people. I am getting VERY excited to release new tunes in the very near future! Stay tuned, hopefully the bunkering down is worth it in the end. 📸 @joshuamikhaiel
